The Baby Who Never Was! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

The Baby Who Never Was!

Rating: 0.5

(A True Story Series- Part One)

Jumping on his young wife’s stomach,
Yelling “I know this kid is not mine! ”
Trying to abort her baby,
And kill her at the same time.

I exited my patrol car
With shotgun firmly in hand.
I saw his kinfolk racing
With rifles and knives from a van.

They were yelling curse words at me,
To leave their boy alone.
Ordering me off the property
This problem was theirs all alone.

I locked and loaded and pointed
And ordered them to the ground.
The next second would surely tell them,
I’d leave them all dead so, turn around.

A shotgun blast into the air
Got the attention of everyone there.
You’d think this was the Dukes of Hazard,
But it was real life to me I swear.

The woman I will call Amelia,
Lost her baby along the way,
While riding in an ambulance,
Oh what a dreary sad day!

Amelia signed a waiver
Of prosecution for that puke.
It made me wish I’d shot them all,
Everyone in their family a kook!
