The Battle Poem by Jasmine Thompson

The Battle

You could hear them in the distance
Men barking orders
Feet hitting boulders

You could smell the tension between them
Sweat dripping down their faces
The saddest of all cases

Two brothers filled with hatred
It is silent now
Her world turns upside down

Two swords that missed their clash
As men fell
Tears swell

It slides down her cheek
But she knew she mustn't be weak

One by one
The war was done

She wipes her eyes
Breathes a sigh

As her brothers fall
She stands tall.
