The Beast On Hallows Eve Poem by Bill Simmons

The Beast On Hallows Eve

Rating: 5.0

Upon the hour of hallows eve
There came a gruesome sight
Some say it fell from outer space
Just as stroke of midnight

Out in field where pumpkins lay
It looked as though a bean
And as too though ripe it were
But this had never seen

It began to shake and tremble
And split along its side
Then out popped a long green tail
And could be seen two big red eyes

Upon this field near forest still
A growl was heard in night
And all things ran from beast it was
And they ran with oh such fright

Upon this night of such forlorn
And as though were newly born
Out came within clawed hands and feet
And on head two curly horns

It walked upright as though a man
Crouched over on back was hump
It threw away its bedding where in field it lay
And it landed with a thump

As he breathed smoke came from snout
As he stomped and tromped about
A hideous being this gruesome thing
And scary beyond all doubt

Across the field a farmhouse
Where inside family lay sleep
He snarled and growled and crept towards
Oh the nature of this beast

Silhouette by moon this house looked doomed
And was outlined pitch of black
For the horror now is he that come
He with hump on back

Outside a hound let out a yip
For such a smell he knew not
And in his haste as he ran away
Frightened to death he left his spots

Around the house the beast he rambled
Around and around again
And at last a window not closed
In the house he did slip in

Inside the house were no light or candles
Not even a fire light
Beneath a bed the creature crept
Where a mom and dad they lie

The creature growled as he drooled
At the mere thought of his feast
Wake up you two, it’s under bed!
Under bed there is a beast!

It awoke mom from her slumber
She lay half asleep now in bed
She thought for sure a noise she heard
But thought perhaps a dream instead

She hugged her pillow and hugged it tight
And was about to again fall asleep
But just in case kept one eye open
Then the fright it came indeed

She pinched dad upon his bottom
Said Wake up, look and see
I hear something in the room
I don't know what, but I hear it breath!

They both stood there on their bed
Then to the doorway they did run
But dad along the way
Forgot not, he grabbed his gun

This amazing thing, this thing called fright
As they hugged each other tight
Dad he blasted away the room
And he shot everything in sight!

He shot the walls, the floors, the doors
And in drawers too his underwear
And shot up too his best pipe
As it lay there in the chair

He shot again and again and again
Until silence it came at last
And when they looked they found nothing
Dad said a dream and he just laughed

Dad he simply just scratched his head
And made sofa into bed
And there the two they curled up
They slept there instead

But what of creature of the horrid
Where was this beast of gloom
If it wasn't there at all?
Yes! It was in the toddlers room!

And there it was in the room
As the child in bed he slept
Oh the mercy, oh the doom!
As step by step, towards the crib it crept!

Oh the humanity, oh the shame!
Someone save this child in dread!
For feast is he to creature be
The beast is at his bed!

But the child, he woke up
And he was not even scared at all
He grabbed the beast and thought a toy
The beast was one inch tall!
