The Begger Poem by Thabani Khumalo

The Begger

Rating: 5.0

The man I saw begging for bread
Taught me a lesson only silence can teach.
An impoverished presentation empowers the scorner
To conform you into what they want

But presenting your riches
Compels the need to know who you are
For if you give away bread, there will be bread for the taking
And any starving soul is obliged to receive.
