The Beginning Of The End Poem by Nivedita Majumdar

The Beginning Of The End

A labyrinth of passages conspire to enmesh a throbbing door.
Enclosing myriad, pent-up, smothered emotions at war,
This door rots, rusts and lies forsaken.
For its key has been lost.
Long-lost.
Buried.
In the ruins of bygone days.
And like a storm, it has taken everything away.
Years fly past,
Solitude speaks to silence.
Hope compromises with despair,
Mirth with desolation.
Jumbled up emotions,
Rumbled up speech,
Defunct feelings and…
An inaudible scream.
This door's key eludes me,
Tears inundate the eye.
The wild crowd mobs me,
I wait, I brood, I recoil, I try.
