The Best Is To Forget Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Best Is To Forget

THE BEST IS TO FORGET

The best is to forget
To not know that you are old
To not even think about it
Or better yet
Not have to think about it

To just be a person
The person you are
And have always been
Just yourself

Then in these short spaces of forgetting
Hope is easy and natural
And life as it is
Can simply be lived

You were an old man once
But now you are just a person
How good just to be alive
How natural to be just here
