The Best Things Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

The Best Things

Rating: 5.0

In old age, as in childhood
It's the simplest of things
That give the most pleasure
The smile on the face of a close friend
A walk in the countryside, whatever the weather
A card that wishes you a Merry Christmas
Happy Birthday or just Wish you were here
Exploring the beach for that extra special shell
That you take home with you to keep
The little mementoes you keep in a box
Or the ones you have on a shelf
A good book that you'll read
Over and over again
And last of all, though not at all, the least
Is the warm hug from someone who loves you
The best things in life are indeed free.

Marilyn, again you have done it - written another lovely piece, I mean! You keep writing them this way, and I for sure will keep reading them. Thank you!
