The Bhoys In Emerald Green - Sons Of Walfrid Poem by Daniel McDonagh

The Bhoys In Emerald Green - Sons Of Walfrid

From the Garngad to the Gallowgate
The pilgrimage is made by faithful fans,
The songs we sing, from our emerald hearts,
Glorify and praise each Celtic man.

From the pitches of Ibrox and Hampden Park,
To the joy we celebrated in Lisbon,
The pints were drank and the songs were sung
Of when Celtic were crowned, European Cup Champions.

Heroes and legends have pulled on the jersey,
The hoops, ablaze on their chest,
As sons of Irishmen gather at Parkhead
To watch those who wear our famous crest.

Our fathers, they made their way to Parkhead
To watch the Bhoys in emerald green,
They brought with them, their flags and banners
To welcome in Paradise, God’s favourite team.

As we gaze onto the pitch from the Jock Stein Stand,
We can imagine players from Celtic’s past,
We can see Jimmy Johnstone running down the wing,
Watch Bobby Murdoch make an immaculate pass.

The passion of Celtic is within Celtic Park,
Maley and Stein, they are still proud,
And Christ, who served and fed the masses
Would have loved the faith of the Celtic crowd.
