The Bird At Hand. - Poem by Elorm Dogbo

The proximity
Which seems so easy
Give me the hope
Of being with you someday.
In this situation,
Things that are near
Are more complicated
Than those seen far ahead.
I keep sinking,
Hoping and daydreaming
Of things that my efforts
Wishes to achieve
Though my efforts dwells
Far, far away from the home of my erotic hopes.

My heart gets weaker,
Thicker and bitter
On the scenes of those guys
Toying with what it desires
Making me regret,
I can never forget
The chances I had with the girl at the next house
Whom I someday want as a spouse.
All the belles in the vicinity
Sometimes seem to blind me.

Come, come, come
My heart calls for you
Like the morning cock crows
I also want some
Of what the men see in you
As the fruit on the papaya tree grows
Catcing the mind
Of whoever passes by
As I keep procrastinating everyday
And push all my efforts to someday
I know my wishes of being with you
Keeps getting nearer of coming true.
