The Blessing Of Silence (On An Early Morning Walk) Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Blessing Of Silence (On An Early Morning Walk)

I walk and sing and recite to myself
But suddenly I feel this as noise
I stop and hear
The blessing of silence-
I look up at the grey and white sky
And out at the open road in the distance
I walk and walk
And suddenly
I am overwhelmed by joy and happiness
Wondering
Whether this is what they mean
When they say
‘All we ever have is now'
And ‘It can never be better than it is at this moment'
I walk and walk
Into the freshness and bright cold morning
‘It is all it will ever be now'
