The Bloodied Cross! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Bloodied Cross!

Two thousand YouTube videos may seem more than enough,
As every playback clearly shows Jesus, the King of Love!
From Mary's womb until Christ's tomb, from birth to death and more,
With joy that overcame the gloom when Thomas wasn't sure!

Disciple John told him about Jesus of Nazareth,
Disciple Thomas had such doubt that Jesus conquered death!
'How could that be? ' he had to ask, and so he chose to grieve,
'God has to prove He did that task, or else I won't believe! '

Despite his sorrows for His Lord, poor Thomas mourned such loss,
'How could such tortures be ignored, the whip, the crown, the cross? '
Disciples are, of course, but men, and so without some proof,
Their faith will waver now and then, and so they stay aloof.

I praise the Father's steadfast care, that day when Christ appeared,
In answer to this poor man's prayer and all the thoughts he feared.
How many tears of joy were shed at that most precious time,
When Thomas knelt and then he said such truth in words sublime?

Two thousand years can't dim such love that Thomas has declared,
Nor cancel tears once shed by him and all the things Christ dared.
To think, my Saviour paid the price and proved He was God's Son,
His Royal Pardon sacrifice meant my lost soul was won!

How few have seen my tears at all, yet even now they pour,
For I know well God's miracle and each year so much more!
And even more blessed I became though Christ I haven't met,
For I believe, and pardon claim, and pray to meet Him yet!

I so I wait the Rapture Day, when Christ will be revealed!
If I'm alive, or come what may, to prophecy I yield!
A future morning, noon or night, a moment stored in time!
The wondrous dawning of delight, God's miracle sublime!
