The Blue Dot Fades... Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

The Blue Dot Fades...

Rating: 5.0

Little by little, the Sahara spreads
As slowly and steadily the rain forests shrink
To make way for the concrete jungles

Little by little, the animals vanish
Along with the birds and other species
To make way for the striding bipeds

From green and blue, the earth turns grey
As slowly and steadily, the humans progress
Proud of having the brightest of brains!

With sinking heart, mother earth waits
Is that going to be her only fate?
To be covered all over with concrete graves?
