The Bouts Of Nostalgia Poem by Francis Duggan

The Bouts Of Nostalgia

Some of the east coast of Australia I've travelled up and down
Since I left Claraghatlea a mile from Millstreet Town
In distant Duhallow a half of a World away
From where I am living and growing old today
Where the Cails and Finnow the old rivers meet
In the rushy fields near the Town of Millstreet
And into a huge flowing mass of water does grow
As into the Blackwater at Drishane it does flow
In my flights of fancy in the wind and the rain
I hear the birds sing in the high wood again
In May when the old fields wear their Nature's flowers
Blooming amongst the grass made lush by recent showers
The bouts of nostalgia to me come and go
Of a place north of here where the rushes do grow.
