The Breeze Poem by Rebecca Lyle

The Breeze

Rating: 3.5

The Breeze

You will never again gaze upon my face.
Betrayal and deceit is a bitter pill best swallowed whole,
but you can't touch my soul for it is untouchable.
.
Most would never forgive such injustices done to them.
And to think I did it all for you only to be told, Stop.
You succeeded, you broke my heart in two, I say good for you.

You held me a virtual prisoner until what became of me,
I should be very angry, but you don't know see
instead I forgive you because of who I am.

The door slammed shut trapping me,
I thought how funny, so with very little ease,
I opened the window, for I am the breeze.

Never think you own me, you can't own the wind.
I will be that tingle on your skin you can't explain;
that slight chill that brings goosebumps in the rain.

That breath you feel on your neck bringing ripples
clear through whole body, begging me don't stop;
for you feel me down into your very soul.

Never worry although it was you who made me;
my spirit shall always be free, no chains can hold me.
Remember who I was, I am the breeze.
