The Bridges Are Burning Poem by Melissa Koeman

The Bridges Are Burning

I’m watching the fire
Unable to get back or forwards
The wheel stopped turning
And I’m still on the otherside
While the midnight was on your side
I was drawing away from the light
But daytime will hunt me as I stand here
No one is here, no one was waiting
And now the bridges are burning
Fire reflecting in my eyes, and heart
The cruelty of this situation hits me
No one here, no one was ever here
While the bridges are burning
