The Brunt Of The Rolodex Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Brunt Of The Rolodex

The decline in summer employment is substantial
Grasping at straws, they drown in contact information
And spit at familiar strangers, goggle-eyed, in a frenzy of baccalaureate design
And choking on benevolent societal promises

Season of the post-poverty candidate
"The lifetime of the living man" is his robotically delivered swan song
The hyperactivity of the post-flamboyant outdoorsman
What is wanted cannot be planned
And the plan is a box of business cards
Pick one for a free giveaway!

When they poke you with impatient pushiness
And dehydrate the nursery by withholding nutrients
They increase the size of their reference archive
Going beyond the ill-fitted adviser
Visualization halted, their forms are indistinct
