The Bus Poem by Jon Yttri

The Bus

Rating: 5.0

Woman speaks to old acquaintance
Who is coach of caravan
"Joe, remember all the fun we had
In Stoughton High back then? "
Remarks were met with silence
As she took her seat.
It was an experience
She did not want to repeat.
"Ken, " says crew to the conductor
As he boards the bus
"Did you see play in Badger match
That won the game for us? "
"Why, " asks woman in seat that's next
"Did you address him 'Ken'?
When I know his name is Joe,
I've known him since back when."
"No, it's not, he remonstrates
He's Ken and always was.
I have been for several years
A fixture on this bus."
So she came to this finding:
Looks are not always binding.
Things aren't always what they're thought,
Some resemble those they're not.
