The Caged Truth Poem by Subashini Ravichandran

The Caged Truth

And when he disappears
like the sun that vanishes
behind the dark fuzzy clouds
bringing unsounded emptiness

Only that what you have lost
will never sneak out of thin air,
to fill up every crack left behind
with rays of unattainable love

As the terrified shadows haunt,
you seek refuge in a company
who never utterly value the
torments blazing in your chest

Offering empty words of comfort,
trying hard to fix your quandary,
proposing a world you never want,
constricting your heart in anguish

Because your history can only be
Retold not relived, the seconds
that structured your life around,
the way you breathed till now

For all the memoirs can be captured,
but the pillars of glorious memories that
on which your heart has steadily beaten
can never be successfully unwritten

In the end they never can comprehend
you enough because they never did
appreciate the way the past molded you
because your home can never be visited
