Subashini Ravichandran Poems

The fragrance of the wet mud
Wafting through my window
stirs me abruptly from the
million parallel thoughts that
...

Hold my hands,
walk with me,
to highest mountains
to the deepest trenches
...

The warm room is filled with noises
everyone pushing to show their voices
with the air pumped with excitement
there is laughter in every corner
...

Taking a glimpse through a train window,
i am astounded at the treat waiting outside,
it brought a smile in spite of all my scars,
and showered serenity i never dreamed of.
...

drowning in an intangible ocean,
struggling hard for every breath,
suffocating the rapid beating heart,
pain radiating through every nerve
...

Bags are eagerly packed,

ready to roll in to the next,
...

I sit down to write you a letter,

to put my thoughts into words,
...

The familiar sound wakes me up,

I rise without giving another thought,
...

I sit down, I pace around
I close my eye lids
waiting for the day to end
...

like a stab into the heart,

a pain that cannot escape,
...

its chaotic all around,
mostly in my mind,
they blur the essence,
twist the heart
...

The first cry
when you breathe in the air
announcing your entry
into the frenzied world
...

Memories play again

long after the eyelids close
...

And when he disappears
like the sun that vanishes
behind the dark fuzzy clouds
bringing unsounded emptiness
...

all that sketched,
streaked and painted
my life,
as i know it
...

The long silky
curtains swinging
merrily along
to the soft tune of
...

The lilac flowers that touched my door steps,
Long before even the milkman rung,
Always sent with a charming note
Coated in excess of sugar and honey
...

September Rain

The fragrance of the wet mud
Wafting through my window
stirs me abruptly from the
million parallel thoughts that
race through my feeble mind.

The harmony of the little drops
hitting the hard roads, glass panes
and vehicles that pass by along
creates a soothing tune to
the ever mending heart

As the volume of the song raises
leaving the world in front of my eyes
completely blurred and almost still,
I enjoy the tiny rivers that flow and
the pools beneath they reach to

I reach out my hands through
the windowpane to feel the joy,
I scurry to get parchments
to build boats for the pool, and
watch them sail on my mission

I see tiny green boats along carrying
Tinnier passengers, unlike my boat
they seem less charming, yet they
move forward with a stronger intent
cruising along magnificently together

Enjoying the gleam rains have passed
I wonder why can't I soak forever
taking in the beauty at hand, Instead of
grieving over the lost and getting
anxious over the prospects of tomorrow

And when these thoughts shape inside
voices from the sky grow louder, and
the song of the rain grows feeble
perhaps, they are summoned to stop
or to move on to another land

and when the last drops of fall
offering all their assurance,
they jog my memory once again
and my mind gets clearer now
as the misty clouds move away

And while the sun tries to peek out
From the hidden blanket
I wonder where the rains moved on
And with a little smile I gather,
to bring happiness else where
