The Challenge Poem by Grant House

The Challenge

Your life
Moonrise
Cooling evening
Hot mid-summer day

Calm now

What's next
They want to know

You say,
Ask the moon

They ask
Moon says,

Your land will be taken over
The people divided
Spirit broken
Given away to the loud man
Who blames this misfortune
On the different ones
The visitors
The new arrivals with aspirations
Those not like "us"

You overhear
Now what?
