The Chapel Of Rest Poem by Phil Soar

The Chapel Of Rest

The chapel of rest has taken part of me
Left my mind somewhere it shouldn't be
Destroyed a memory I can't uphold
And left my heart less warm and somewhat cold

I wish that I had not stood all alone
Hoping that this loved one could come home
It wasn't even her I saw that day
It felt that someone took her far away

And now I find the tears won't seem to dry
I seem to have them more as days go by
And though she wasn't there, my mind can see
Someone unrecognisable to me

So over time I trust that time will heal
And chase away these images I feel
Remember her for all the reasons why
She should not bring a tear into my eye
