The Chest Of Everything Lost Poem by Sharon Washburn Flynn

The Chest Of Everything Lost

Scatter my heart
on the fields of Tomorrow.
Broken pieces mere dust
upon the ground.
Scatter the ashes
of my hopes and dreams
upon the winds
of what might have been.
Scatter my love
over the stars of yesterday,
send them to the moon
in someone else's sky.

My skies are empty,
the night is dark and foreboding.
The stars have dimmed,
the planets have stopped orbiting.
They spin in useless circles
never getting close, always moving away.
Color my night with transparent tears,
my world with somber hues.
Scatter my soul's left-over cares
to the depths of despair
where they shall be collected and stored
in a chest that I've named Everything Lost
