A laugh, a cry, a whispered tune,
From days beneath a sunlit moon.
A mother's hand, a story told,
More precious far than shining gold.
That gentle voice, a lullaby,
Still echoes in the grown-up sky.
But shadows too, they sometimes creep,
The fears that made us lose our sleep.
A scent of bread, a sudden sound,
Can bring lost moments back around.
The first scraped knee, a joyful leap,
The secrets that our hearts still keep.
Not just the grey, the plain, the mild,
But sparks that blaze, however wild.
The grand surprise, the sudden fall,
These shape the person standing tall.
They rise like mist, unasked, unseen,
The vibrant hues of what has been.
And in their depth, we find our way,
The child we were, within today.
