The Choice Poem by Jessica Thomas

The Choice

The things I'd give
To have children live
In a perfect world surrounded by love
And give them strength to rise above
To be themselves and live their dreams
But only one day it seems
To happen all hope is lost
Like finding a friend who paid the cost
The cost of temptations
The cost of persuasions
Only to find
Your paper's been signed
Now you're gone
There you can't con
Rehab isn't working
You've given into drinking
Wasting good life and times
Like your new friends who are slimes
You can't seem to fight back
You've begun and can't get off track
I know it's sad
Remembering times you had
But all is lost
You've paid your cost
This is the life you chose, you had a choice
Your conscience was that little voice.
