The Clock Fell Today Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

The Clock Fell Today

Rating: 0.5

It crashed to the floor
its hands came loose
and I lost track of time

it was all over in seconds
a lifetime of tick-tock
came to an abrupt end

my wristwatch lay in a drawer
abandoned to a jeweler's care
the radio clock in the kitchen
flashed twelves by the score

I was bereft until I glanced
at the computer screen
and read the time
and wrote this at 1: 38 PM
