The Common Thief. Poem by Osagie Francis samuel Omono

The Common Thief.

The Common Thief.
The Common Thief who stole a dime to survive the hardship caused by the big politicians is crushed and crucified.
The Common Thief who stole a goat to pay his kids school fees is burnt alive.
But the big thief, the politicians who stole,
What belongs to the nation, what belongs to the common thief, is hailed and applauded.
Yes the big politicians who stole the destiny of the people, .
Is confered upon a chieftaincy title.
We celebrate them, those who daily divide us, so they can keep on stealing on.
We hail them, those who loot to the deepest hell,
Those whose appetite like the grave never saying enough to receiving the dead, have no limits to their looting.
We applaud them those, who have denied us the basic things of living.
We worship them, those who denied us our rights.
We protect them, those who daily kill us to protect their empires.
Until we wake up from our slumber,
We shall keep suffering and smiling till eternity.
