Now That Am Alive, Not When Am Gone. Poem by Osagie Francis samuel Omono

Now That Am Alive, Not When Am Gone.

NOW THAT AM ALIVE, NOT WHEN AM GONE.
Celebrate and give me honour due me when am alive not when am stone cold.
Quench my thirst and give me food now when am alive,
Better am well feed when am alive,
Than feed the world during my burial.

Oh give me that little cash I need,
That little help I just need now,
Than burying me with million dollar casket,
Than raising million dollar for my funeral,
Of what use will all these be to me?
Show me how much you love and care for me,
Now that am alive,
Cos when am gone, I won't need your love no more.

Show me that little kindness now that am alive,
Cos I won't be needing your kindness when am gone.
Of what use will be the money you will spend on my funeral?
Of what effect will be your tears over my stone cold body?
Of what effect will your sweet words on my tomb wherein lays my bones?
Now is the time when I still draw in the breath of life the Almighty gives me,
Not when I am gone.
