The Cover Of Night Poem by Samantha Stough

The Cover Of Night

We walk through the dark with fingers intertwined
The cat has your tongue,
And it has mine

I have walked through the same darkness before without a care
But, now that I can feel you beside me,
I've never been more scared

I feel like every step we take, the more the sky closes in
The ground may be pulled out from under us,
Hopefully luck will help us win

The road home was never so long before,
Never so many stars in the sky or a moon so bright,
And I'm beginning to enjoy it all the more

I can feel our restraint boiling away
Under the cover of night, perhaps
Is the easiest way

I prefer to turn away from the mock beauty of the sun
My love for you is turning nocturnal,
And the night has just begun

I'm really glad meeting young poets, who can express their feelings and emotions so brilliantly! This one is simply awesome! God bless dear! Keep it up!
