No its just fictional, I have a vast experience of working in the special needs field. Some of the character traits are drawn from real experiences. Its meant to be set in the early 90s when small option homes in Canada started to become much more fashionable then institutions. Many autistic people have traits where they are hyper self absorbed, almost to appear selfish but my not any fault of there own. Its the autism the minds eye of Jimmy was speaking at the end. I suppose the inferrence that they saw the scribbler and saw it was Jimmy's name(assuming) He would have had his name all over it, the neighbors trying to act like they new who Jimmy was is laughable. They see him all the time but do not know one from the other.
