I was given a crown to wear
but I put it to one side -
reluctant to own it.
Didn't think I was worthy
or the right person
to sit on a throne.
I'm only small, you see,
Too small.
(Queen Elizabeth II was small
so she wore bright colours……)
And it is still sitting there
languishing in the corner -
but it's really too magnificent to be ignored.
Should I slip it on, own it?
Somehow it doesn't seem right or fitting
but it is still there, in the corner gathering dust,
waiting for its owner to wear it …….
if only for a day.
(Tomorrow I shall wear
Hot Pink!)
