The Cut Poem by Ashley Davis

The Cut

You feel the coldness of the blade
Touch the softness of your skin
For a brief moment you stop...
And wonder
Can i do this?
I shouldn't do this? !
But the the pain your trying to get rid of
Creeps into your mind again
Making you push that silver blade harder
Not hard enough for the crimson blood to spill
Tears swell up in your eyes
Why are you crying?
The reason dances around your mind
You can't hold back
You want to feel the slice
The only pain you can control
Want to feel it release.
You dig the blade deeper
Tears fall harder
You break through the barrier
And you drag that shiny blade down
You see the beautiful blood slowly...
Ever so slowly...
Come to the surface
You let out the breath
You didn't know you held
And do it all over again.
