The Day Before Yesterday Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Day Before Yesterday

The day before yesterday
my heart was filled with joy.
I had everything to live for,
nothing to destroy
my peace, my tranquility
because I had you.

The day before yesterday
contentment filled my days.
The thought that it could end?
Oh how life betrays
our trust, our confidence.
Now what do I do?

There is no chance for happiness
if you are not here.
All the things you were to me,
everything so dear,
my hopes, my desires
went away with you.

If I could stop the pendulum
and make the world stand still
I'd erase the day before yesterday
and never let it kill
my joy and my hopes
for that's when I had you.
