The Day I Died Poem by Dean Lampard

The Day I Died

The day before I died I spent it with my youngest, we played games and watched old movies and cuddled, I told her it was my favourite day of the year

The day I died I stuck up for my eldest. I told her to do something her mother had told her not to, I was right to do so

The day I died I played football against my sons team. Dad's vs lads. I scored a header he will remember forever

The day I died I played a video game with my son. He helped me understand it. He will think of me when he plays it.

The day I died I took my dog for an extra long walk. We went further than ever and to some new spots. We sat and I told him my problems. He looked at me like he understood

The day I died I argued with my wife. I said some things I meant and some things I didn't.

The day I died was the happiest and sadness day of my life
