The Day You Turned Away Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

The Day You Turned Away

Rating: 5.0

They sent out the sentries
they sent out the guards
they send out all the armored horses
and the steel covered men
and soon the battle began
and when it was done
there were none
The blood flowed
and formed a river
that turned into an empty sea
the day you turned away from me.

Just the thought of your name
I know I'll never be the same
the most beautiful love I ever felt
was in vain
the blood turned to mud
but left a red stain
bleached by the sun
cleansed by the rain
but the truth of it all
is only known above
as the sky darkens and clenches
like a big fist in a black leather glove
Still....all I know of is love
