The Debate Began Poem by Randy McClave

The Debate Began

Now the debate will soon begin
And both side want to desperately win.
The debate is now on
The candidates have already been drawn,
One debater is prepared with his notes
And with his memory and his receipts and his quotes,
The other debater is prepared with his propaganda and lies and fear
Knowing that is what the people he believes wants to hear.
One debater is a con and also a user
And a liar and a cheated and a abuser,
While the other debater is caring and good hearted
Confusion and facts has now started.
One screams out hate and rumors and lies
While the other lets out shrugs and sighs,
One makes promises that they cannot or will not keep
In their mind misinformation does always seep.
One debater is honest and true
And they speak with integrity to both me and you,
And they do not curse or mock or belittle
To no one do they seek an acquittal.
One takes credits for actions and laws they never achieved
Unto the voters they want their lies believed,
And one shows and proves the laws that they had passed
When by the moderator they both are asked.
When the debate is finished and all over
And one participant is looking over their shoulder,
Thinking of the final cost
Because, they know that debate they had honestly lost.
Now they swear and they lie and they judge and curse
And they act the worse,
Saying and screaming the debate was rigged and unfair
As they pull at their hair.
They were easily and soundly defeated
Now they mock and provoke and scream they were cheated
Because, they didn't abide or adhered to the stated rules,
They then prove that insults, becomes the losers tools.
