The Desire Goes On Poem by John McCornack

The Desire Goes On

For over a hundred years, strong men have come
Searching for a Mary Sudik pool of gas and oil
Desperately wanting a chance for that thrill
An unquenchable desire to feel the oil and gas boil

Roughnecks and virgin students of excitement
They all come and try to make a contribution
Wanting to get rich or just enjoying the excitement
for “In that Desire” there is no nobler institution

For that wonderful energy that empowers our toys
and heats our bodies of which we call Black Gold
We must continue to make “An All Out Search”
And for this objective we must be forever bold

So lets all join together and get ready to push hard
For the search for energy must be our goal for today
For when we are successful we can all celebrate
with continued good life for it is the American way
