The Devil Has Your Number Poem by Randy McClave

The Devil Has Your Number

How can you walk while continuously looking over your shoulder
How can you sleep at night, I once had told her,
Do you not have nightmares from the life that you currently live
Because, I believe that no-one ever told you that they would forgive.
You have done things that a good person would never do
Then afterwards to the victim you would always say, "I love you",
You have committed every debauchery and of course almost every sin
And you have never asked the Lord God Jesus for forgiveness, Amen,
How can you sleep after all the bad things that you have said and done
If I had done a fourth of what you did, my soul would be on the run.
I know for a fact that you have lied and cheated and have used others
You have also stole and took and broke promises, to your lovers,
The only person that you truly care about above everyone else
And that person is of course, yourself.
I wonder if or when you ever do sleep if you always have nightmares
All created from broken promises, judging others and ignored prayers,
If I had done or said a fourth of what you did I would constantly weep
So, tell me please, at night how can you ever sleep.
I have heard you swear and falsely accuse and I have heard you cuss
I have heard and seen you throw family and friends underneath the bus,
You are always seeking pity while making your future worsen
You are indeed, a very bad person.
I wonder how many nights you are still wide awake
Since asking for forgiveness from your sins and discretions you did forsake,
Someday indeed you will be placed underneath the great spotlight
Then you will be asked, how did you sleep at night.
I have always heard that a bad person can never sleep peacefully or well
All that they dream or think about is the torments of hell,
So, I truly think and wonder how can you ever peacefully slumber
When at night, the Devil has your number.
