The Devil I Know Poem by Adams King

The Devil I Know

The lyrics are but new
But this music is old
Lovers of such are but few

The lips are but different
I have tasted this kiss before
They are no better than Judas's

There are but few flowers
That never fades nor withers
by the stretch of time

Many are the twisting tongues
False face, deceitful dogs
of lying lips and hardened heart

I know you lustful lovers
of waxy feelings
That melt away so soon

The angel you claim to be
was who my devil was
When yet love was unripe

After days of pretence professed
And love lavished on lies
She unmasked herself

To paint ugly a once beautiful
Picture of paradise
Into a horrible hell

You're the devil I know
Stars with borrowed twinkles
A moon for a single night
