The Difference Between A Sea And An Ocean Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Difference Between A Sea And An Ocean

It's very obvious you like me but you won't admit it
No power in the hour that finds us meeting twice unplanned
How vast the network of sweaty pulsating masses
How enclosed and stifling the precision building of association

I grew impatient with the many negative nights
"Let me stop you right there"
I stopped, I lost the larger picture
I swallowed the pill of half-witted acceptance

"I'm not sure" is not no
"I'm not sure" is the verbal expression of heart and head tug of war
Neither giving way

Where the water meets the land
This is not a limitless field of play
But close quarters combat along the strictest route
Don't fall off the path

Unseen adversary that rations feeling
Sets up benevolent invisible nets of propriety
To slash at restraint with love
To dredge new canals that run deeper and longer
