The distance between us
it is not measured in metres
No, it is not even measurable

The distance between us is hereditary
stemming from where in the cosmos
your chromosomes and mine began
and the particular time in space
and on the splicing thereof

We can try to come together in communion
try to reduce the distance between us
it will always be a futile fuss
because the distance between us
is too vast to even exist

The sooner we accept and move on
the better and smaller will be the gap
The distance between us.
