The Doubtful Witness Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Doubtful Witness

at first the
gecko
last night
the owl fronting
the window
on the mango tree
and then the cuckoo
farther in the
pond as it started
to rain
that night and then
early that morning
the rooster
at dawn in the house
of the mayor
the twilight brought
the rapid bursts of
gun fires.
