The Downfall Of A Man Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

The Downfall Of A Man

I dream and keep running in it
As fast or even faster than others
It does not matter whether one is blind or blindfolded
You, still, must continue the race
That may make you sleep too long
While others have finished their dreams

The downfall of a man!

I become too weary and lonely
Because there is no pair of “running shoes”
No set of kits; for I put on my “parachute
There is even no one to refresh me
To sprinkle “ice” cold water on my face
It is those that do not know the way
That feels the pains of hunger strikes or abstinence

The downfall of a man! !

I stare into the sky full of stars
Like a star-gazer looks into the crystal ball
There is a bright sign for showers
For success comes from hard work
It shall be no more a nightmare
It is he that takes last; that takes the best

The downfall of a man
Is not the end of his life! ! !
