The Dream - Poem by jon barron

I capture a glimpse as her eyes cross the room
Brightening the place like the sky from the moon
A dazzling, shimmering sparkle of green
I’ve seen a lot in my life
Of no more beauty I’ve seen

A flash from the night sky draws my gaze to her lips
Those of smooth velvet
On her soft drink she sips
As she catches my stare
Her lips send a smile
I blush, look away, am I in denial

A girl of such beauty
Could never like someone like me
But there’s no one else here
I’m all she can see
The sun pokes through the window
I look back but it seems
The woman I gazed at
Was jus in my dream
