The Driver Poem by Chris Pontiac

The Driver

Rating: 5.0

That familiar feeling creeps in
With every gust of sweet summer air
Sun shining down brightly,
Wind blowing through her long brown hair.
Thoughts of doubt lace his mind, memories he cannot leave behind.
So with a deep breath and false smile,
Puts his foot to the pedal to cruise another mile
Missing his youth and summers past,
A boy turns to man with regrets that last
This hollow man distances himself from those once near,
The same pathetic excuses year after year
As he grips the bottle and the wheel
He wonders what its like not to feel,
And with an end inching closer and closer
Our hero yearns for nothing more than to hold her.
