The Earth. Flat Or Maybe Round And Hollow? Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Earth. Flat Or Maybe Round And Hollow?

Some folks once thought, a long, long time ago,
That Earth was flat, a surface we could know.
But then came Halley, with a clever mind,
He thought a hollow Earth, with shells, he'd find.

He said that poles, they sometimes moved around,
And inner spheres, on which they spun, were found.
Then Symmes came, with a new, strange idea,
A hollow Earth, with openings held so dear.

He said that life could live inside so deep,
Through polar holes, where secrets Earth would keep.
But wise men worked, with numbers and with tests,
They weighed the Earth, and put its mass to quests.

They found it dense, too heavy to be so,
No hollow space, for life to brightly glow.
So flat it's not, that much we understand,
And hollow too, is not our solid land.

It's round and firm, a ball in cosmic space,
Not flat, not hollow, in its rightful place.
