The Economic Model Poem by Ananta Madhavan

The Economic Model

The Economic Model is a beauty:
Its dynamic functions work like a digital watch.

The Input exactly equals Output,
Which is distributed among
This row of boxes, 'M' for the Masses,
Who can spend their incomes up to
'C' for Consumption on the next row of boxes,
'g' for Goods and 's'for Services rendered or tendered,
Which flow back neatly into the 'M' boxes

Except
Except that is, for 'S' or Savings,
Which covers 't' for Taxes.
This bifurcates into the small boxes,
'Direct and Indirect taxes',
All too familiar to us of the 'M'.

See the marvel of it,
The absolute beauty of it,
When 'S' equals 'I' for Investment,
Generating 'C' exactly!
I like it, I love it, when S=I=C.

What's that? Speak up, please.
Oh, the lady asks,
'How do you get any 'S' in the first place? '
Good question, that, from one of the 'M'.
Let me pose a counter-question, 'M'.

Can the digital watch solve the problem of Time?
