The End Of It Poem by Paul Warren

The End Of It

The assignment was quite a simple one
Travel and explore with our report to come
We saw worlds of colour and skies of dark red
And creatures that we had come to dread

Some of our crew was lost in our travels
When our plans would unravel
And those lonely graves on alien planets
Attest to our trials of solid granite

And now again the solar winds are not kind
As we encountered a cosmic storm we did find
A comet has wrecked our last journey now
Being unable to return home in a fate so foul

The comet's radiation has saturated the ship
Slowly killing the crew and finally finishing it
I am coughing up my blood signalling my end
As my blood stains my tunic blue as I finally expend.
