The End Of My Quest Poem by Paul Warren

The End Of My Quest

I stood and bowed my head
Trying not to show what I did dread
All eyes were focussed on me
And the words I uttered slow and free

I spoke about the quest on which I drew my sword
Not wanting anything but just reward
As I waited for the vaulted reply
And wondered if I would survive or die

For my wounds were plain to see
And what the quest had done for me
But I could only feel the cold unyielding stare
Not caring what was sacrificed or I had to bear.
