The Epic Of Gilgamesh Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Epic Of Gilgamesh

Long, long ago, a tale took hold,
From ancient lands, brave stories told.
In words of old, its secrets sleep,
A written book, so very deep.

A king there was, with mighty hand,
Who ruled his people, ruled the land.
But in his heart, a storm did brew,
Till friendship came, and made him new.

A friend he found, with spirit bold,
Their bond of love, a tale unfolds.
He learned to care, to lead with grace,
No longer harsh, a kinder face.

Yet life is short, and death draws near,
A fear that fills the heart with fear.
He sought to live, beyond the grave,
A way to cheat, the tomb to save.

With gods and beasts, he crossed the way,
Where mighty powers held their sway.
The gods of old, they watched and knew,
And shaped the world, for me and you.

This ancient song, it echoes still,
Through ages past, and on the hill.
It taught us much, of life and love,
And stories born, from skies above.
