The Exodus Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

The Exodus

Of a sacred pillar,
Of carved images;
Life is full of the ways of the gods.
Inheritance,
Of a thief sold for his theft!
Life is full of appointed teachers.

A bull and a sheep,
Living in a walled city;
The poor must be taking care of.
Listen and obey,
Read and learn,
The poor will never cease from the land.

The exodus of Egypt,
The exodus of Germany,
The exodus of Nigeria,
The exodus of Ghana,
The exodus of South Africa,
Of the exodus of the world!
With the slavery from Africa to teach us all.

Of the sound of the trumpets,
Do not harden your heart to the poor;
Like an unplowed valley with a sweet flowing stream.
Life is like that,
Love is like that,
Of matured bones with the muse;
Twenty years old and above are needed for this war.

The meat should be soaked in salt water,
Listen to the beat;
Like the moon of green ears and barley.
Examine the meat,
Like pepper and milk;
And move on in life like,
The wages of a hired man.
Wine and bananas,
Where there is hope there is away!
